The Project

Stepnell Ltd appointed Volsen to complete the refurbishment to the roofing area on their £1.3m regeneration project at the Co- op Bearwood site in Poole.

To suit the Clients budget, specification and guarantee requirements, Sikalastic 618 was used to provide a suitable waterproofing solution as it offered the most cost-effective solution for the refurbishment whilst allowing complete coverage around and under the complex plant and pipe penetrations that existed on the roof.

Stepnell Managing Director Mark Wakeford said: “This is an exciting project, which will contribute to the regeneration of the Bearwood district improved shopping facilities and a new, purpose-built medical centre. We will be working closely with the local community, including local businesses, shoppers and residents, throughout the scheme.”

Richard Stileman, Head of Estates at The Southern Co-operative, said: “This has been a hugely challenging project, which has taken some three years to deliver. The scheme not only provides a new state of the art surgery by demolition of part of the existing building, but also creates the new retail units by retaining and sub-dividing the remainder. It is immensely gratifying to see the completion of the project which not only creates a new optimum sized co-operative food store, but also provides additional retail units and medical practice for the benefit of the whole community.”
